Partnership
In 2003, each parish of the Coventry Deanery received an official diocesan visitation from either Archbishop Nichols, Bishop Pargeter and Canon Tom Farrell. Following on from this process each parish was partnered wth one or two others in their locality. As was said at the time: “Parishes do not live in isolation, links and co-operation between neighbouring parishes can be a source of strength and encouragement”.
Since then we have been in partnership with the parishes of St. Anne and St. Thomas More and have sought to work together in different ways. We have visited each others churches with joint Lenten and Advent Masses. To these Masses we have invited a priest from one of the city parishes to come and preach. We have also invited the dean and episcopal vicar to preside at the some of these celebrations. In partnership we have also have had a day for ministers and travelled together on one of the diocesan pilgrimages. Also we invite one another to our special celebrations, such as our parish feastdays, our anniverseries and concerts.
As clergy we seek to support one another and provide help when needed. We also come together for our penance services before Christmas and Easter and also for the children’s First Confession.
The partnership has over the last few years helped us look to look beyond our boundaries to the wider communion we have as a deanery, a diocese and with the church as a whole. Importantly too friendships have been made or renewed and contacts between different groups and ministries have also been established.
