Prayer of Dedication

Reader
Father Creator of us all, we come before You on this our parish feast day of Corpus Christi. In the name of Your Beloved Son and through the help of the Holy Spirit, our advocate, we dedicate to You a Holy Year of Jubilee, to commemorate the 50th year of our foundation. In this time we hold before You our past, present and future.

All
Christ yesterday and today, the beginning and the end. Alpha and Omega, all time belongs to him and all the ages. To him be glory and power through every age for ever.

Reader
We hold before you our past.
Loving Saviour, in these fifty years You have formed us to be the People of the New Covenant, sanctified and made holy by the salvation You won by Your Sacrifice on Calvary. In Baptism, through Your Eucharist and Redeeming Word the wellsprings of Your Grace has flowed upon us, leading us to enter intimately into Your Divine Life. There we have discovered the source of our communion, our praise and thanksgiving.
In moments of joy and happiness, times of trial and sadness we have journeyed in the strength that comes from the knowledge that You are with us always as our constant companion and loving Shepherd. As we have heard Your call to live as Your Family united in professing one faith, one Lord, so we have sought to be true to our mission to take the Gospel beyond these walls and tell others of Your invitation to “Come and See”.
We pray for all who have been led by You into their eternal home. With profound gratitude, we thank You for all those who have been living witnesses to our faith, all those who have been transfigured by Your love. Take to Yourself these our saints and help us by their intercession to draw closer to You. Grant that their example will help us in this Jubilee Year also to humbly recognise our failures.
May this be a time of repentance for the occasions when we have been stumbling blocks of belief. Liberate us from the slavery of our sinfulness; reconcile us to Yourself and all those created in Your image and likeness.

All
Christ yesterday and today, the beginning and the end. Alpha and Omega, all time belongs to him and all the ages. To him be glory and power through every age for ever.

We hold before you the present moment.
Now and throughout this Holy Year, we consecrate ourselves to You and renew the promises made at the time of our baptisms to live as Your anointed ones. We pray You may enable us to take the opportunity offered in the present moment to hear afresh Your invitation to rest in your love and find You at the centre of our lives.
Throughout the year, grant that we may so deepen our devotion to You in the Eucharist and the sacramental life of the church, our faithfulness to Your redeeming word, that we may receive an ever increasing wonder and understanding of the mysteries of Your incarnation, passion, death and resurrection. May these mysteries fill our minds and hearts with the light of Your truth and freedom. Make our lives radiate that light in a world filled with anxiety and uncertainty, a world filled with false truths and teachings. By our prayer help us to remain in Your Divine Love, the love that makes us grow in harmony and peace, compassion and understanding. May we reach out and bring Your love to our families and the one who is my neighbour. We offer to You all the gifts and abilities that You have freely bestowed upon us. May we use them to build up Your eternal kingdom. We ask You to bless our ministries and enable us to be single minded in Your service and to work for the common good of all in imitation of Your selfless generosity.

All
Christ yesterday and today, the beginning and the end. Alpha and Omega, all time belongs to him and all the ages. To him be glory and power through every age for ever.

We hold before You our future life.
In this Jubilee Year may we look to the future with renewed confidence as we place our hope in You. Grant us true vision and the wisdom and discernment to discover where You are leading us. By our dialogue, example and catechesis help us to pass on the inheritance we have received, so that all peoples may come to experience the mercy, and the peace and wholeness only You can give. May our future life be characterised by a hunger and thirst to bring justice and integrity to our world. Grant that we may cry out for the voiceless, those living in poverty and oppression, in isolation and pain. May our faith proclaim that all of us are created equal and that each of us share in the privilege and dignity of being called Your beloved children.
May the liturgy we celebrate together on Earth grant us a foretaste of the beauty, majesty and splendour of the Heavenly Banquet and look to the future that is unending and unchanging, where liberated from sin and death, we may experience the inexpressible joy of sharing the fullness of Your Divine Life and beholding You face to face.
May the intercession of Mary, Mother of Your faithful people, with the Holy Apostles and Evangelists with the saints and holy martyrs of this country and every people and age, strengthen us to proclaim and live this as a year of the Lord’s favour, dedicated to You Loving Father, in the name of Jesus our Redeemer and the Holy Spirit of truth and life. One Eternal God who lives and reigns, world without end. Amen.
